S06E04 – Rowing 3,000 Miles Across the Atlantic

Row, row, row your boat,
3,000 miles across the ocean! Yeah – that’s what’s happening – this year!
The guys from Guardian Initiatives are back! Jarrod and Mark were on Ken’s Think Tank 2 years ago to talk about their plans to row across the entire Atlantic Ocean to raise awareness for first-responder mental wellness and suicide prevention. And this is the year they go!
In December 2022, their small team will fly to Africa with a specialized ocean row boat for the start of a 3,000 mile race that will have them row non-stop from the west coast of Africa to Antigua in the Caribbean. The journey will take roughly 45 days. The only propulsion method they will have is their own rowing. And they will need to take 60 days’ worth of supplies with them when they embark – because there are no stops – no place to rest – no place to restock – nothing but empty ocean.
The annual race is called the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge and is known as the world’s toughest row. Ya think?! Ha Ha!
I’m going to catch up with Jarrod and Mark to see how their preparations are coming since we last spoke, and see how they feel about the monumental task that awaits them at the end of this year.
